Have a merry Christmas: 3 ways to enjoy the holiday season

For most of us, Christmas is a fun time. From celebrating the birth of Christ to cheesy holiday movies, Christmas is a time to make new memories with family and friends. Some of my favorite memories have been loud, off-key singing Christmas songs while driving around looking at lights and coming back to our house to make homemade ornaments with our fellas. Each year, I look forward to enjoying these moments. Sadly, the holidays can also mean stress. The mixture of crowds, fast-paced music, high-fat foods, an[...]

Pressing Pause: Celebrating my 39th birthday

It’s my birthday ya’ll. Today I turn 39. Whoa! Even though I have moments I am amazed I am almost 40, my body definitely reminds me that this is indeed a fact. From the couple of patches of gray hair that peak out at around my temple to seeing wrinkles around my eyes when I smile, I am thankful I have been given the gift of growing older.  Normally, one of my birthday traditions has been to write out my prayers, hopes, and goals for the next year. Thanksgiving fun: 3 activities to do with your family this holiday

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I get to enjoy delicious food with some of my favorite people and it's finally cool enough for me to wear fuzzy socks. Plus, there's pie. So I try to include activities that we can do during Thanksgiving that are fun and encourage us to express our gratitude. He[...]

Motherhood Unfiltered

Some days I feel confident in the type of mother that I am. Then there are other days I go to bed focused on all the ways that I missed the moment. Sometimes that mom guilt can seem to speak so loudly in my mind of all the things I should have done or should have said. Lies that I am not good enough. This is false thinking. Instead, I make a choice to renew my mind and remind myself to see motherhood through God's point of view. I choose to remember that His grace is sufficient for me and His power is sho[...]

Serving at home: 3 ways to be a friend to a military spouse

Being a military wife is a special calling and some days are tough. For the last 13 years, I have stood by my husband’s side while he has proudly served our country in the United States Navy. In those years, we have often spent more holidays, birthdays and anniversaries apart than we have together. We have moved far away from family and said goodbye to friends one too many times. While he leaves to serve on deployment, I serve at home. Whether it’s deployments, school, or training, shifting the responsi[...]
