Every morning before I get out of bed, I tell myself I will not fuss.
Then off in the distance I hear my fellas arguing about the bathroom no one is in or complaining about the food they get to eat for breakfast. (C’mon mommas, you feel my pain.)
Ugh! On top of that, one of them is usually moving SLOWLY.
Yes, I will not fuss I tell myself over and over UNTIL.
I have an until, do you?
That moment you are good until
- the milk spills on the floor when you need to leave the house
- the car won’t start because someone left the light on in the backseat
- you get a text about your bank card for an identity theft
- you realize your spouse left the laundry in the washing machine for a second day
- you need to leave for work and your kid can’t find his shoe AGAIN
Oh, yes! When those until moments happen, our good intentions of speaking kindly go out the window. Needless to say, we are just no fun to be around.
Often we let until be the set time where our patience runs thin and our attitude is out of control.
Just like I wake up with the intention not to fuss, I also wake up with the intention to walk in faith.
I don’t intend to get scared. I don’t intend to be stressed. I don’t intend to be controlling. I don’t intend to build a wall around my heart. Yet, I find myself dealing with these emotions often. That’s why I need reminders God has a set time for every aspect of my life and I have to put an UNTIL in my heart.
I know I want want to move forward, but I will be still UNTIL God tells me to move.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Psalm 37:7
I know this hard and I want to leave, but I’m not going anywhere UNTIL God releases me.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8
I know I want to fix the situation, but I won’t put my hands on it UNTIL God directs my steps.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Leaning in to wait on God, to stay rooted in our faith, and to control our words is a daily decision. Distractions may come (no surprise there), but let’s decide we won’t be moved UNTIL God’s set time.
